Indiana Law students can build their own plan of study by taking classes from a number of different areas, or they can choose an area of focus.
Description This course provides an introduction to the growing body of law that governs the employment relationship and that is unrelated to either the law on employee organization or the law on employment discrimination. Topics to be covered include: the hiring and firing of employees; individual employment contracts; the employment-at-will doctrine; the erosion of the employment-at-will doctrine; covenants not to compete; the protection of trade secrets; the employee's duty of loyalty; the use of lie-detectors, drug testing, and HIV-testing in hiring and discharge decisions; and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. There are no prerequisites.
